Men’s Hockey’s Late Start Leads to Scrappy Loss in Season Opener

The thunderous cheers of the crowd at Bright Landry on Friday night were not enough to propel the men’s hockey team (0-1-0, 0-1-0 ECAC) to victory in its season opener. Despite having home ice advantage against Dartmouth (1-0-0, 1-0-0 ECAC), the Crimson was unable to outskate the Big Green, falling in a hard-fought 2-1 battle.

Harvard men’s ice hockey (7-17-6, 7-10-6 ECAC) shutout the Princeton Tigers (10-16-4, 8-11-3 ECAC) 1-0 in the single-elimination first round of the 2024 ECAC playoffs, moving on to the quarterfinals for a best of three second round playoff series.


Men's Hockey Concludes Regular Season Play, Battles in Tight Contests Ahead of ECAC Playoffs

Closing out regular season play, the Harvard Crimson (6-17-6, 6-10-6 ECAC) defeated the Yale Bulldogs (10-17-2, 7-13-2 ECAC) 2-1 in OT, and lost to Brown (8-18-3, 6-14-2 ECAC) in an OT shootout. Holding Brown scoreless after a back-and-forth overtime period secured the Crimson a home-rink advantage in its ECAC playoff game against No. 9 ECAC-ranked Princeton on Friday.


Men's Hockey Posts Mixed Results Against Union and RPI

The Crimson (5-16-4, 5-10-5 ECAC) posted mixed results this weekend against Union College and RPI, falling 6-2 to the Garnet Chargers and besting the Chargers 3-2 in an exciting shootout win to end the weekend victorious.


Eyeing Late-Season Run, Harvard Gears Up for ECAC and NCAA Playoffs

At a now-or-never point in the season, Harvard men’s ice hockey (5-16-4, 5-9-4 ECAC) must strive for near-perfect play. It came close to perfection this past weekend, notching a one-goal win over St. Lawrence but falling to Clarkson by the same margin. Except for a blowout loss to No. 1-ranked Boston College in the consolation round of the Beanpot last week, Harvard has kept it close against ranked teams over the past month.


Harvard Places Fourth at 71st Annual Dunkin’ Men’s Beanpot, Loses 5-0 to Boston College

The Harvard men’s ice hockey team lost 5-0 to the No. 1 Boston College Eagles (20-5-1, 13-3-1 HE) in the consolation round of the 71st Beanpot Tournament held at TD Garden. After falling short to the reigning champions, Northeastern, in a 3-2 overtime nailbiter, the Crimson was overpowered by the Eagles in Monday’s matinee, a game that at times looked uncompetitive.


Harvard Secures Shootout Win over Dartmouth, Multiple Points for League Rankings

A seven-round shootout, nail biting victory at home on Friday night against Ivy League challenger Dartmouth gave Harvard (4-14-4, 4-8-4 ECAC) a much-needed extra point in the ECAC standings. When the game clock signaled the end of the third period, both teams were tied at five goals. With the win, the Crimson can now claim both regular-season matchups with Dartmouth, both of the walk-off variety.


Harvard Men’s Hockey Loses Beanpot Semifinal 3-2 in Overtime Heartbreaker

Harvard men’s hockey (4-13-3, 4-8-3 ECAC) lost the 2024 Beanpot semifinal to the Northeastern Huskies (11-12-2, 6-11-0 HE) 3-2 in an overtime heartbreaker, after the Huskies netted the game-winning goal just 33 seconds into overtime.


Harvard Looks Past Loss Against Quinnipiac, Prepares for 71st Annual Beanpot

Harvard men’s ice hockey (4-13-3, 4-8-3 Ivy) lost 2-1 against one of its most difficult opponents of the season, No. 1 ECAC and No. 7 NCAA-ranked Quinnipiac, on Friday. The loss marked its second to the Bobcats this season, with the first coming from a decisive 6-0 shutout at Bright-Landry.
