Women's Rugby Defeats Army, Advances to NIRA National Championship

The Harvard women’s rugby team defeated Army in a resounding 41-24 victory in the first round of the NIRA National Championships this past weekend, successfully avenging its Oct. 29 loss and sending it through to the final, where the team will play Dartmouth.

The Crimson, who was previously undefeated on the season before its Oct. 15 defeat against Dartmouth, still managed to make their two losses close, with both coming down to the final minute.

The women’s Rugby 15s team was back in action this past weekend, kicking off its 2022 campaign with a 48-19 win over Quinnipiac. Coming off a third place finish at the NIRA National Championships last fall, the Crimson rolled in its first game back at Mignone Field, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.


Champions Again: Women's Rugby 7s Wins Ivy 7s Tournament Title

The Harvard women’s rugby 7s won the 2022 Ivy League Tournament this past weekend, going 3-1 on the day and ultimately defeating Dartmouth for the championship at Mignone Field. It was the Crimson’s fourth-ever Ivy 7s championship and its second tournament win of the season. Senior center Sofie Fella led the way for the Crimson, scoring eight tries throughout the tournament to continue her torrid start to the season.

The Harvard women's Rugby 7s team will look to defend its 2019 Ivy Tournament title this weekend, as it hosts Princeton, Brown and Dartmouth on Saturday. The Crimson will look to build upon its strong start to the season on April 2, where it won the Crimson 7s tournament in its first appearance since the 2019 season.

As some of the world’s greatest athletes descended upon Beijing, China, for the Winter Olympics between Feb. 4 and Feb. 20, some of Harvard’s brightest stars were among them. Nick Abruzzese, Sean Farrell, Emerance Maschmeyer '16, Keely Moy, and Remi Drolet represented the Crimson in Beijing, with Maschmeyer claiming a gold medal for Canada.

Sophomore standout Rémi Drolet is representing Harvard well at the Beijing Olympics. The Nordic skier has competed in three events for his native Canada, finishing 33rd in the men’s 15km classic, 57th in the men’s skiathlon, and helping Canada to an 11th place finish in the men’s 4x10km relay.


Skiing Takes Seventh Place at Saint Michael's Carnival

The Harvard ski team built on a strong start to the season with a seventh-place finish at the Saint Michael’s Carnival on January 21st and 22nd. Career-best performances were a dime a dozen for the Crimson, with junior Annabel Hagen, junior Emma Ryan, sophomore Liam McNamara, sophomore Elsie Halvorsen, and first-year Mads Groeholdt all having record days.


No. 9/10 Women’s Hockey Downs UNH, 3-2, for Second Straight Win

Building off of a statement win against Brown two weeks ago, the Harvard women’s ice hockey team continued its recent strong play by outlasting the University of New Hampshire, 3-2, last Tuesday at the Whittemore Center. The victory moved the No. 9/10 Crimson to 7-3-0 (4-3-0 ECAC) and sent the team into the Thanksgiving break on a two-game win streak.
