Last Time, It Hurt

The last time the Crimson appeared in the NCAA Tournament, an impressive run ended in heartbreak. Then-sophomore Ryan Donato (right) and Sean Malone ’17 (left), a senior at the time, were speechless after falling to Minnesota Duluth in 2017’s Frozen Four.

Like Father, Like Son

One of Ryan Donato's most compelling storylines throughout his Harvard career, and especially in his final season for the Crimson, was his relationship with his coach and father, Ted. In 2017, the duo was able to celebrate a Beanpot title.

The Donato men enjoyed last season's Beanpot title as both a father-son duo and a player-coach pair. The tournament victory is surely among Ryan's greatest hockey moments shared with dad.

Last season's Beanpot victory gave Donato a taste of winning big events. He and the Crimson rode this feeling all the way to the Frozen Four last season, and Ryan will surely take those experiences with him to South Korea.

He'll Be Back

Ryan Donato walks down the tunnels of the United Center in Chicago after the 2-1 loss to Minnesota-Duluth in the Frozen Four. A sophomore at the time, Donato used the defeat as motivation to improve over the summer and come out of the gates strong in 2017-2018.
