Adams

As if going to Harvard weren’t enough to brag about, the (randomly) chosen few will be able to name drop Adams come Housing Day. There are so many reasons Adams is considered the gold standard, but we want to highlight a few of the less publicized ones.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Adams

1. Randolph Hall’s courtyard is gorgeous and has lots of seating—a much better study spot than Lamont’s basement.
2. Faculty Deans Sean and Judy Palfrey open up their home every Sunday for students to use as a study space.
3. Sean and Judy also host Adams tea!
4. Adams has tunnels that are decorated by past residents.
5. FDR lived in Adams—and his room is now a museum in the house.
6. Carpe Noctem (Adams house stein) takes place every week.
7. The Adams Pool Theatre hosts many student productions.
8. Adams doesn’t share a kitchen with any of the other Houses—this (in theory) means better food.
9. Students can learn to use the Bow and Arrow printing press in the House.
10. The Adams coat of arms was inspired by the seal on a ring belonging to John Quincy Adams.

Adams Housing

You may have heard that the better the location, the worse the actual room situation in terms of housing. We’re here to tell you that isn\'t true! Most sophomores will live in Claverly Hall, known for its beautiful staircase and mildly terrifying elevator. While you’ll likely have a roommate, your suite’s common room will more than make up for it. There’s enough space for every suite to be a party suite. There are also tons of common spaces both within Clav and throughout Adams where you and your blockmates can hang out and “study.”

Adams Community

With all of Adams’s exclusivity comes a well-connected community. Adams HoCo hosts Carpe Noctem every Thursday, and everyone comes together for food and drinks before the start of the weekend. Additionally, Adams hosts a drag night where groups can perform dances for their housemates. One great thing about Adams is that it hosts its events within the house. While you’ll be passing on swanky hotels and clubs in Boston, you’ll never have to pay surge prices to Uber to a formal that you can’t get to on the T.

Adams: Your Questions, Answered

What should freshmen who get Adams look forward to?
Everything. You may still be a freshman, but you’re in Adams now. On Housing Day, look forward to roses, cigars, and an #exclusive reception in the house. An added bonus: blocking group photoshoots in the Gold Room.

Is Adams getting renovated?
Not yet! You’re not going to have to miss out on house life or live in swing space.

What about dining hall restrictions?
Adams is notoriously exclusive in terms of dining hall access, giving you the perfect space to escape the chaos of campus without actually having to go anywhere.
