Active in Cambridge for the last 30 years, Minka Y. vanBeuzekom served as a Cambridge city councillor from 2012 to 2013. As a councillor, she pushed to make MIT’s redevelopment of Kendall Square a more environmentally sustainable project and worked with developers and the Cambridge Affordable Housing Trust to build affordable housing units on Harvard Street. She continues to advocate for the building and maintenance of affordable housing units. VanBeuzekom runs on a platform of “A Healthier Cambridge for all,” focusing on the health of families, the environment, and the economy.
