A long-time Cambridge resident, Dennis Carlone is currently on his first term as a city councillor. Carlone has been heavily involved in issues of urban planning and design, and serves as chair of the Transportation and Public Utilities Committee. During his term, he has worked on an effort to compile a city-wide master plan to guide development and zoning. Carlone is involved in advocacy for issues of affordable housing and sustainable growth, such as the preservation of public spaces and the Net Zero Action Plan.

Before serving as a councillor, he worked as an architect and urban consultant. He received national recognition for his design work on East Cambridge Riverfront Project to develop the land around the Lechmere Canal.
