In Photos: The 60th Head of the Charles Regatta

The Head of the Charles returned to the Charles River for its 60th anniversary, drawing thousands of athletes, alumni, and fans to Cambridge’s riverside. The regatta filled the river and Harvard Square with energy as more than 11,000 athletes and hundreds of thousands of spectators gathered for a weekend of racing. Crimson photographers captured moments of focus, strength, and celebration that marked this milestone year.

The demonstration was part of a nationwide day of action opposing President Donald J. Trump and his administration’s policies. Lasting from noon to 3 p.m., the protest was organized by a coalition of activist groups including Indivisible Massachusetts, Mass 50501, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts.

Last Friday night at Harvard Stadium, the Crimson extended their undefeated streak to 4-0 (2-0 Ivy) with a decisive victory over the Cornell Big Red. This win allowed Harvard to climb to No. 18 and No. 20 in the Stats Perform and Coaches FCS Top 25 polls.

The 53rd Annual Evening with Champions took place last Friday and Saturday at the Harvard Bright-Landry Hockey Center. The student-run annual fundraiser brings together figure skaters from across the globe to raise money for The Jimmy Fund, the fundraising arm of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The organization has raised over $3 million since its inauguration.

Before dawn on April 19, crowds gathered at Lexington Battle Green to watch a reenactment of the first shots of the American Revolution. Seventy colonial militiamen faced hundreds of British redcoats in the brief first battle of the war, marking the beginning of a long struggle for independence.

Thursday morning, Harvard Yard came to life with animal costumes, vibrant posters, and a cacophony of chanting from students representing each of the College’s 12 Houses for Housing Day – an annual tradition where upperclassmen welcome freshmen into their assigned Houses. Painting a Brighter Future with ArtLifting

In 2013, Elizabeth J. “Liz” Powers ’10 founded ArtLifting through Harvard Innovation Labs with her brother, Spencer Powers, to help artists with disabilities and financial insecurity. The organization’s mission is to connect artists with opportunities to share and sell their work. Eleven years after its inception, ArtLifting now represents more than 190 artists in 35 states. For Billy M. Megargel and Lisa Murphy, two artists based in Massachusetts, ArtLifting supports them in a different ways.
