Men's Tennis Finds Mixed Success at ITA Tournament

This past week saw Beren Tennis Centre play host to the Men's ITA New England Regionals, a five-day event running from Thursday through Monday. The main draw featured nine Harvard athletes amongst a field of 150 other competitors, with eight competing in the singles event and five duos representing the Crimson in doubles. The competition would see the finalists of the single event and the doubles champions earn the opportunity to move on to the NCAA Individual Championships later this year, hosted in Waco, Texas.


Tennis Phenom Cooper Williams to Transfer to Duke

Star Harvard tennis player Cooper Williams, who went 14-9 in his first year in Cambridge and reached the round of 16 at the NCAA singles championships, will transfer to Duke next season, per an announcement on the Duke Athletics Instagram.


Men's Tennis Sweeps BU, Michigan State to Advance to Sweet 16

No. 12 seed Harvard men’s tennis (22-6, 6-1 Ivy) opened up play in the NCAA tournament with two dominant wins on its homecourt, packed with energized fans on chilly afternoons. After beating Boston University’s team, the Crimson wasted no time in punching its ticket to the top-16 the next day against No. 21 Michigan State. The Crimson, advancing to 15-0 on home court, looked poised and collected while dropping no courts throughout the weekend.


Men’s Tennis Continues Push Towards Ivy Title

The No. 12 Harvard men’s tennis team (17-5, 3-0 Ivy) continued its strong showing in conference play this weekend, besting the No. 72 Yale Bulldogs (10-8, 1-1) on Friday, 5-2, and Brown Bears (5-15, 0-2) on Sunday, in a 7-0 sweep.

Men’s Tennis Posts Impressive Results During California Road Trip

The No. 10 Harvard men’s tennis team (13-5) entered spring break with fresh legs, traveling across the country to California to take on the No. 47 University of California Santa Barbara, California Lutheran University, No. 40 Pepperdine University, and No. 29 University of California Los Angeles. It emerged with a 3-1 record on the trip, making the cross-country trip worthwhile.

The No. 8 Harvard men’s tennis (8-4) team posted two key victories this past weekend, defeating a storied No.13 Duke (9-5) program, and besting the No. 44 Northwestern University (5-9) Wildcats for the fifth time in a row.

No. 12 Harvard men’s tennis (5-1) continued its hot start to the season with two decisive wins against UCLA (2-2) and Northwestern (1-5). Building on its momentum, the Crimson squad continued its dominance this past Friday, posting a decisive 6-1 victory against No. 11 Michigan (3-2).

“We've shown many times this year that we're a team that's not gonna go away. Whether we're down a doubles point, we're down two sets in matches, we've come back to win,” junior Ronan Jachuck said. “I can look around, even if we've lost the first set, and know that my teammates aren't going to go away and that the second set is gonna be a battle.”

On Apr. 9, Harvard battled against Brown in a match at Beren Tennis Center, where the first two rounds of the 2023 NCAA Tournament will be held this weekend. The Crimson went on to defeat the Bears 7-0.


No. 12 Harvard Brings Home Second Consecutive Ivy League Title

No. 12 Harvard men’s tennis (19-5, 7-0) completed its clean sweep of conference matches to capture the Ivy League title last weekend in Princeton, N.J. The Crimson took on No. 54 Princeton (16-3, 3-4), ultimately defeating the Tigers 6-1. This marks Harvard’s second undefeated Ivy title in a row.

Kicking off the weekend with two decisive doubleheader wins against Virginia Tech and local rival Boston University, the Crimson appeared undefeatable. This weekend, the No. 13 Harvard men’s tennis team put on a show in Cambridge, Mass. welcoming ACC foes No. 75 Virginia Tech and defending national champion No. 8 Virginia, alongside Boston University, for a three-day matchup at the Beren Tennis Center.

Harvard Men’s Tennis Posts 6-3 Record in First Half of Spring Season

No. 9 Harvard’s loss to No. 11 Columbia in the ECAC Championships last weekend marked the midway point in its spring season, which continues next month. The Crimson (6-3) has posted overall positive results against top-ranked opponents since the start of the season in January and continues to prove its mettle as the season progresses.
