Harvard Pitchers Sean Matson and Tanner Smith Selected in 2024 MLB Draft
For the second consecutive year, two members of Harvard’s baseball team were selected in the MLB Draft. Rising seniors Sean Matson and Tanner Smith were picked up in the ninth round by the Cleveland Guardians and in the 15th round by the San Diego Padres, respectively.

‘Boom’: Harvard Captures Second Straight Series Win Against Dartmouth
Harvard blasted five home runs to take two-of-three from Dartmouth and put itself back in Ivy League contention. After narrowly dropping the middle game last Sunday 6-5, the Crimson rallied back to take the decider 13-5, the team’s second consecutive series victory after dropping its first seven.
Harvard Claims First Ivy Series Win Against Princeton
With the Ivy League tournament only a few weeks away, the Harvard baseball team (8-20, 5-7 Ivy) traveled to New Jersey for a critical series against the Princeton Tigers (10-19, 6-6). With its sights set on its first Ivy League series win of the season, the team split the Saturday doubleheader and then blew out the Tigers in the decider, taking two of three on the weekend.

Harvard Loses to Boston College, Fails to Advance in Beanpot
The Harvard baseball team’s offense has scored more than eight runs three times this season. Its record in those three games is 0-3. Unfortunately for the Crimson (4-17, 2-4 Ivy), its loss to the Boston College Eagles (16-11, 5-7 ACC) on Tuesday — in the semifinal game of the 33rd Baseball Beanpot — solidified a puzzling trend for the team: when the offense is firing on all cylinders, its hitters seem to playing a constant game of catch-up. This time, the final score was 17-9.
Baseball Drops First Home Series to Brown
After dropping its Ivy League opener on the road at Columbia, the Harvard baseball team (4-16, 2-4 Ivy) returned to Massachusetts to face off against Brown (7-14, 2-4 Ivy) in the Crimson’s home opener last weekend. The team’s doubleheader on Saturday was moved to Boston College’s Pellagrini Diamond, where it took one-of-two, due to improper field conditions at Harvard’s O’Donnell Field. The Crimson returned to O’Donnell on Sunday for its official home opener and lost the rubber match to drop the series.
Baseball Kicks Off Ivy League Play at Columbia, Wins One of Three
Coming off of a tough spring break trip, the Harvard baseball team (3-13, 1-2 Ivy) kicked off Ivy League play against Columbia (6-12, 2-1 Ivy). The Crimson, who swept the Lions in 2023, looked to start off on a strong note in conference play. The teams started off the series with a doubleheader on Friday, winning one of two before dropping the matinee on Sunday.

Harvard Baseball Enters Crucial Stretch for Ivy League Standings
It took longer than expected, but Harvard’s baseball team completed its fifth series of Ivy League conference play this season against Brown University in Providence, R.I., on Tuesday. Inclement weather forced the three-game weekend series to stretch into the workweek, but the extra time did not seem to bother the Crimson as it won the rubber game of the series, defeating the Bears 4-1.

In the annual Beanpot Tournament final, the Harvard men’s baseball team faced No. 11 Boston College in a winner-take-all matchup, falling to the Eagles 5-4 despite a hard-fought effort. After defeating Northeastern on April 4 in their first-round game, the Crimson’s matchup with the Eagles marked the 32nd anniversary of the historic Beanpot Tournament adding baseball to their schedule.

The Harvard baseball team continued its uneasy start to the 2023 season in a series against Texas A&M this past weekend, dropping its fourth consecutive series so far this year. The Crimson, having traveled to Florida to face FAU earlier in the week, took a trip down to Corpus Christi in Texas for another road series.
