John Kenneth Galbraith, a prominent economist, taught at Harvard for decades in between stints advising Presidents Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson and speechwriting for those two, as well as President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He advised Kennedy on economic matters and served as his ambassador to India.
