John Kenneth Galbraith, a prominent economist, taught at Harvard for decades in between stints advising Presidents Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson and speechwriting for those two, as well as President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He advised Kennedy on economic matters and served as his ambassador to India. After his experience in India, Galbraith hosted a lunch for Indian students at Harvard every year on Commencement Day.
