Living in the Quad Just Got Better
Residents of Cabot and Currier will no longer have to decide whether they want to trek back to the Quad for sustenance, grab a meal from FlyBy for lunch, or struggle to find a House along the River in which they are welcome to eat.
Recently a number of Houses have instituted dining hall restrictions making it difficult for many quadlings to find a place to eat. But now Currier and Cabot, like their neighbor Pfoho, have places to eat along the River where they won't be turned away.
Cabot residents will be allowed to bypass the interhouse restrictions in Kirkland and Lowell, and Currier residents will have carte blanche to eat in Eliot and Winthrop.
Lowell House Master Diana Eck wrote in an e-mail that all of the House masters agreed to the new partnering among the houses “as a matter of fairness.” House Committee Co-Chairs from several of the houses involved said that they did not know that this plan was in the works until they were informed by their House Masters of the decision.
Residents of Pforzheimer House have been exempt from the dining restrictions at Adams House since 1999, when Pfoho emerged victorious in a war between the two houses. After waiting 11 years, Cabot and Currier will now receive the same right to eat along the river—without ever doing battle for the privilege.
