Class of '13, look no further: thisĀ  is how you can fight theĀ  Freshman 15 next fall.Ā Ā  Le Whiff, a mini inhaler that sprays the taste of chocolate without actually imparting anything caloric, is now on the market.Ā  Developed by Professor David Edwards and some of his students from Engineering Sciences 147, Le Whiff is one product of Harvard research that makes FlyBy think, "What? Cool! Why?"Ā  The answers, after the jump.

In fall of 2007, Larissa H. Zhou ā€™10 and Trevor J. Martin ā€™10 took Engineering Sciences 147: ā€œIdea Translation: Effecting Change through the Arts and Sciences,ā€ taught by Edwards.Ā  Edwards, a biomedical engineering professor known for his development of an inhalable tuberculosis vaccine, urged his students to come up with innovative products for their class projects.Ā  The idea of inhalable food was suggested, and from there, the project was born.

The inhalers are currently only on sale in Paris, but can be ordered online.Ā  Edwards has expressed his intention to expand the project to other types of inhalable food.Ā  Will Le Whiff be a success?Ā  Well, think about it... would you pay for a puff?
