American history concentrators will tell you that the Gold Rush happened in the late 1800s in California. Fans of Ivy League crew would give you a different answer: Brest, Belarus in 2010. By the time the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships concluded last Sunday, six rowers from four different Ancient Eight schools had struck gold at the four-day competition. But luckily for this Back Page correspondent and all the loyal readers out there, this edition of Around the Water Cooler will touch on more than just crew. The good times keep rolling for former Harvard co-captain Jeremy Lin.
Less than one week after signing a two-year contract with the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, Lin left for Taiwan to participate in Yao Ming’s annual charity game that will be held in the Taipei Arena tomorrow night.
Lin will join forces with fellow NBA players Dwight Howard, Brandon Jennings, Aaron Brooks, Chase Budinger, Hasheem Thabeet, DaJuan Summers, Amir Johnson, and Luke Babbitt against 14 players from the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association in the charity event.

Jeremy Lin’s agent Roger Montgomery denied reports surfacing Saturday that Lin had signed a contract to play for Chinese Taipei in international competition
“That’s not true,” Montgomery told The Crimson Monday night. “He didn’t make any decision.”
Though Lin had been contacted about playing for Chinese Taipei, any report that the former Harvard co-captain had actually signed a contract is false, according to Montgomery. But Lin's Wikipedia page had quite the different idea earlier today.

In a game highlighted by former NBA players and Division One standouts from the nation’s top basketball conferences, two Harvard men’s basketball players made the Ivy League proud.
Rising sophomore Kyle Casey and incoming freshman Matt Brown shared the court with the likes of Memphis’s Antonio Anderson and Providence’s Jeff Xavier this past Saturday in the Boston Athletes United for Change Summer League and led their team to victory—combining for more than a third of their team’s points.
