Injured Yale Linebacker To be Released from Hospital

Yale linebacker Jesse Reising, who was injured during the fourth quarter of the Harvard-Yale football game on Saturday, is expected to be released from the hospital today, the Yale Daily News reports.

Reising was involved in a helmet-to-helmet collision with Crimson senior running back Gino Gordon in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s contest, a hit that left both men on the ground for several minutes.

Gordon was able to leave the field under his own power, but Reising was taken out of the stadium on a stretcher and has remained at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center ever since.

Reising told the YDN that “my nerves aren't firing to my right arm like they're supposed to,” and he may need surgery in three months to reattach them.

The linebacker was awarded the Chester J. LaRoche Award at the Bulldogs’ team banquet over the weekend, which is given to the senior who did the most for Yale through his character, academic talents, and concern for others. He is expected to make a full recovery.
