A column of faculty and administrators walked down the aisle in Tercentenary Theatre to take their seats on the Commencement stage.

Officials including Harvard School of Public Health Dean Andrea A. Baccarelli, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dean Emma Dench, and Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean Hopi E. Hoekstra, as well as dozens of faculty, waved to their students — drawing cheers.

Dench in particular spent a few minutes waving and pumping her fists.

Most of the faculty wore stickers reading “without our international students, Harvard is not Harvard.” The stickers were designed by an unofficial group of faculty, and they quote a line from Harvard’s lawsuit attempting to block the Trump administration from terminating its authorization to enroll international students.

Harvard College Dean Rakesh Khurana proudly donned the sticker on his phone case. Graduate School of Education Dean Sarah M. Whiting wore the sticker on her left lapel. And former Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean William C. Kirby also showed off the sticker on his gown.
