Star Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig will enter the transfer portal, he announced to ESPN Monday morning.

Craig, a senior, enters the portal midyear and will attend a new school in the spring after graduating with a degree in economics this semester. He will have one year of remaining NCAA eligibility as a graduate transfer, and he is being represented by Grand Central Sports Agency.

Craig led the Crimson to a 9-1 record in the regular season this year and made a name for himself as the Crimson’s all time leader in both passing yards and touchdown passes. He is widely considered one of the FCS’s top quarterback prospects and drew the interest of a number of NFL scouts this year as a possible day-three pick.

Craig is joined in the portal by teammate and senior captain Ty A. Bartrum ’26 — who announced his decision to transfer midyear on Friday — among others. More Harvard seniors are expected to enter the portal in the coming weeks, following in the footsteps of recent alumni such as Cooper H. Barkate ’25 and Thor G.C. Griffith ’24, both of whom went on to play for power-conference FBS programs.

The transfer portal for the NCAA’s Division I is open from Jan. 2 until Jan. 16, which means Craig still has the opportunity to withdraw from the portal and declare for the 2026 NFL draft. The draft typically sets its deadline near the middle of the month for players who have remaining eligibility, so it will allow Craig to at least test the waters of the collegiate transfer portal, where FCS transfers have received seven-figure offers in the past.

The Crimson ended its regular season with a disappointing 45-28 loss to Yale, giving the Bulldogs the automatic playoff bid to the Ivy League’s first-ever FCS playoffs. Harvard received an at-large bid to enter the playoffs, but its season ended shortly after with a 52-7 blowout loss against Villanova.
