An Evening with Champions, the annual world-class figure skating exhibition, returned to Harvard’s Bright-Landry Hockey Center for its 52nd year on Friday and Saturday. Over the course of its history, the event has raised over $3 million for the Jimmy Fund, a non-profit which funds pediatric cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Above, British ice dancers Phebe Bekker & James Hernandez, two-time Junior National Champions and Senior Silver Medalists, skate to an elegant James Bond piece. The piece was full of lifts and synchronized twizzles.
In the opening number, the cast of An Evening with Champions perform an electric group routine. The show featured performers as young as eight years old. Across more than half a century of the event, performers have won 26 Olympic gold medals.

The host of the evening, 1992 Silver Medalist Paul S. Wylie ’91 interviews Will Annis, 2022 Junior Silver Medalist, after his performance. Wylie interviewed each skater, often asking them to repeat a favorite step from their performance.
Luke P. Witkowski ’28 & Sofia Jarmoc from the Skating Club of Boston perform as Barbie and Ken in an upbeat production. After the performance, Wylie interviewed Witkowski about the start of his first year at Harvard.
2020 New England Juvenile Champion Patrick Blackwell performs a backflip on ice — a move banned from competition in 1976 but recently reinstated.
Figure skating cinematographer Jordan Cowan, a former Team USA ice dancer, filmed the entire night alongside all the performers. Above, Cowan films Filipino figure skater Cathryn Limketkai.
Professional figure skater and 2018 Canadian National Junior Champion Matthew Markell gracefully skated to an instrumental piece.
2018 Olympic Bronze Medalist and two-time U.S. National Champion Bradie Tennell skates to a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” inspired show piece. Tennell graced the ice with her iconic sit spins during her routine.
During the electric finale, the cast of skaters smile and wave as they say goodbye to the audience. Skaters danced in unison to close out the night with roaring applause.
