Versatorium: A Collaborative Translation Intensive
As the Italians say, “Translator, traitor.” Can we trust our words in the mouths of others? I think not. How can we be sure that our words remain our words? In addition to being one of the oldest questions in philosophy and pedagogy, the viability of translation continues to perplex and enrage today’s scholars. In this translation workshop of Viennese poetry, one can conceptually bond with the high minds of revered poets and might even encounter, if ever so slightly, the rigid, structured, and orderly nuances of the German tongue, which brought science and philosophy to dark Europa. Don’t worry if you can’t make one of the meetings––there are four over the course of the week!
