Law enforcement officials have confirmed that a death threat emailed to hundreds of Harvard affiliates last Friday originated outside the country and is not a current threat to Harvard’s campus, although the investigation into the source of the threat remains ongoing.
Steven G. Catalano, a spokesperson for the Harvard University Police Department, told Harvard affiliates in a community advisory message Wednesday morning that its investigation “has revealed sufficient information to support the conclusion that that the emails do not pose a credible threat to the campus at the present time.”
Those emails, which included a racial slur and disproportionately targeted women of Asian descent, disrupted campus life this past weekend as police increased their presence and some student groups canceled planned events.
