Student Robbed at Knife Point

A male graduate student was robbed at knife point on Tuesday night outside of 16 Prescott Street—across the street from the Harvard Faculty Club—according to a Harvard University Police Department community advisory sent Wednesday night.

A backpack, laptop, cellphone, Mac charger, planner, eyeglasses, sunglasses, and a wallet with $150 cash were taken from the 24-year-old resident of Prescott Street.

According to the Cambridge Police Department’s report, the victim was walking home at approximately 10:50 p.m. when he was stopped by two males in their 20s.

The shorter of the two males pulled out a knife and showed it to the victim.

“Give me what you got,” he said, according to the police report.

“Take what’s in there,” the victim said to his perpetrators, handing over his backpack.

The shorter suspect rummaged through the victim’s backpack while the taller suspect asked whether the victim had anything else on him.

After feeling his pockets, the victim found his cell phone, an “iTouch cell phone” according to the report, and the suspect took it.

“Just take the whole bag, and let’s go,” the taller suspect said, according to the report.

The two suspects walked away toward Harvard St. The student was not injured during the armed robbery.

The victim returned to his apartment and called the police. CPD units searched the area but did not find the two suspects.

The incident is being investigated by CPD because it did not take place on Harvard’s campus.

HUPD reminded students that if someone approaches them displaying a weapon and demanding property, it is recommended that the victim complies with the request and not resist.
