Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
One year after the likes of Clifton Dawson, Matt Farbotko, and Mike Berg found themselves fighting for spots on NFL rosters, senior offensive tackle Andrew Brecher joined the ranks by signing with the Dallas Cowboys following the weekend’s draft.
The 6’5”, 290 pound Needham, Mass. native had a rough start to his Harvard career, seeing no time in his first season, hardly any in his third, and fighting through injury in his second and fourth seasons before returning for a fifth year in 2007.
That decision turned out to be the difference between an end to his football career—as well as an unmemorable career with the Crimson—and a potential professional one.
Brecher started all 10 games at offensive tackle in the Crimson’s perfect Ivy League season, helping his team to its first championship since 2004.
The senior played a big role on the team, as he protected quarterback Chris Pizzotti for the majority of the year.
Brecher earned accolades by the bundle along the way—he was named Honorable Mention All America by the Sports Network, New England Football Writers Association All-New England, and was a member of the All-Ivy First Team.
In addition, Brecher was presented with the Lamar Award for dedication to his team at the Crimson’s awards dinner at the end of the season.
