Yalies Head for “The Hills” in Record Numbers with OC Style

Ever wish you had your own Lauren Conrad look-alike to be best friends with and then shockingly betray in a scripted argument? Yale students do...all the time.

To satisfy this urge, Yalies attempted to set the record for the most people dressed as “The Hills” star in one place last weekend. Yale Law School Auditorium was filled with countless LC look-alikes hoping to be a part of this historic event, but it has not yet been determined whether The Guinness World Records will recognize the feat as a new category.

Courtney A. Cronin ’11, a fan of “The Hills,” was not surprised by the idea. “I think it’s funny because most girls who watch the show try to dress like Lauren,” she says.

The organizers of the event gave away free eyeliner, but attendees had to create their own outfits to match the star’s signature style. Backstabbing friends were not provided.

This event is only the latest in a long tradition of bizarre world records in the Ivy League. For example, Harvard students held the record for the largest conductor’s baton until The University of Pennsylvania’s band debuted their own rod—over 15 feet long—at their homecoming game last October.

And in 1972, a dedicated group of Harvard students set a record for the longest monopoly game, playing for 50 hours in a Currier House elevator. According to the maker of Monopoly, the current record is 1680 hours.

FM thinks it’s only a matter of time before Harvard students organize the largest gathering of people dressed like Conrad’s rival, Heidi Montag, but Cronin isn’t sure that there will be enough interest. “I think people would rather dress like Lauren,” she says.

If any students are willing to give it a shot, FM will provide the creepy manipulative boyfriends.
