Maxwell L. Child ’10 will lead the newly-elected 136th Guard of The Harvard Crimson, the paper’s outgoing president announced today.
Child, an economics concentrator from Pasadena, Calif., and Lowell House, is a news writer and has been an operations manager on the business board since February. He will assume the president’s post at the start of the spring semester.
The paper’s outgoing editors elected their successors early this morning, and the president of the 135th Guard, Malcom A. Glenn ’09, announced the results to the staff soon after.
“I look to our new leaders with great excitement and great faith in what things they will accomplish,” Glenn said today. “The new guard is filled with all the talent, experience, and necessary skills to fulfill their goals in the year ahead.”
Child will be joined on The Crimson’s masthead by the managing editor-elect, Clifford M. Marks ’10, and the business manager-elect, Steven J. Stelmach ’10.
The Crimson, founded in 1873, is the only daily newspaper in Cambridge, Mass., and the oldest continuously published daily college newspaper.
It chooses its leaders through an election process known as “the turkey shoot,” in which all outgoing executives are invited to participate. A successful candidate must receive at least 75 percent of the vote.

Aparicio J. Davis '10 and Thomas J. Lawless '10, associate business managers
