The Harvard men’s swimming and diving team turned in a dominant victory over previously unbeaten Navy on Saturday afternoon in Annapolis, Md.
The Crimson won 10 events to the Midshipmen’s six to emerge with a 176-124 win, and received strong performances from freshmen and veterans alike. Three swimmers posted multiple victories for Harvard, which won its fourth meet of the season.
Freshman Derick Chui captured two backstroke victories in the 100 and 200-meter events, while senior Sam Wollner followed suit with wins in the 200 and 400-meter freestyle. Sophomore Mason Brunnick touched the wall just over a second behind Wollner for a second-place finish in the 400. Junior Eric Lynch took first in the 1500-meter freestyle, with teammates Alex Meyer and Blake Lewkowitz taking second and third, respectively. Twin brothers Bill and Dan Jones finished 1-2 in the 100-meter butterfly and 2-3 in the 200-meter butterfly.
Senior Geoff Rathgeber rounded out a solid day for individual Crimson swimmers, taking first place in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke events.
Freshman runner-up Justin Davidson finished less than a second behind Rathgeber in the 100.
Rathgeber had a busy day, taking the 400 medley relay title with teammates Pat Quinn, Bill Jones, and Jordan Diekema. Quinn and Jones also factored in to the 200 freestyle relay victory, teaming up with Will Heyburn and David Guernsey for the win.
Quinn also won the 100-meter freestyle, and finished second in the 50 free with Guernsey taking third in the latter.
Senior Lucas Sanders placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, both of which were won by Navy’s Jon Galinski. Freshman Zac Ranta took third place in the 1 meter.
Harvard will take the next three weeks off before hosting Brown on Jan. 25. The first race is scheduled for 4 p.m.
