By Julia R. Senior, Crimson Staff Writer

The selection committee announced yesterday that the Harvard women’s water polo team would receive a bid to this weekends Eastern Championship in Princeton, NJ. After failing to finish in the top two at the Northern Division Championships last weekend the Crimson’s fate was left in the hands of the selection committee who had two at-large bids to hand out. The other at-large bid was given to Bucknell University.

Harvard, who has qualified for the CWPA Eastern Championships each of the past two years under head coach Erik Farrar, will be the eighth seed this weekend.

They will open competition Saturday at 9 AM against No.12 Hartwick. The Hawks, who are seeded number 1, are the reigning champions and the clear favorite to win the tournament, Last weekend, at the Northern Division Championships the Hawks outpaced the Crimson 24-7.

“They [Hartwick] are a couple of cuts above us right now, but we may have some answers for them,” Farrar said on Saturday following the loss.
