Handbook for Style Concentrators: Polos and Leggings and Sweatpants, Oh My!

Always decked out from head to toe in Ralph Lauren, the economics concentrator maintains a style that is a subtle blend of classic East Coast and sixty-year-old man. Alternating occasionally between polos and button down shirts, the ec concentrator rarely deviates from khaki pants–though he allows himself the occasional foray into denim during the recruiting off-season.



English

The fashion mavens of the Harvard world, English concentrators always have time to dress for success between their six hours of class a week. Leggings are an essential component to any outfit, allowing female concentrators to go without pants (frequently leading to the display of something resembling the toe of a certain hump-backed ungulate). Wearing oversized shirts that flop loosely the hips, these Shakespeare junkies are able to hide the stress weight that comes from having no job or applicable skills upon graduation.



omputer Science/Mathematics/Physics

Veterans of never-ending problem sets, these concentrators dress comfortably and in layers to mitigate Cabot Science Library’s fluctuating climates. Cargo pants are a staple for the mathematically-inclined, as the pockets provide easy carrying space for calculators, protractors, and Sir Issac Newton’s “Principia Mathematica.” In addition to their array of free OCS T-shirts, these number-crunchers dress up any outfit with tees bearing mathematical jokes (“Will you lie tangent to my curves?”) that no one outside the Science Center finds even remotely humorous.



Government

Coming straight from practice across the river, Gov concentrators have little time to shed their athletic gear before class. Never known for their variety, most of these Marxist scholars wear their signature DHA sweatpants for days at a time. Sporting a Harvard athletics t-shirt or team jersey, Gov students strive at all times to emulate their fashion god—Sporty Spice.
