Lots of people have Mike P. Corayer’s ’06 digits.
Don’t be jealous.
Initiates to the Hasty Pudding Theatricals traditionally pull pranks on their senior members, and Dan A. Svrisky ’09 and Liz A.T. McLeod ’08 targeted Corayer, the veep of the Pudding’s band. At McLeod’s suggestion, Svirsky made signs that read, “Felipe’s Now Delivers.” And each prominently displayed Corayer’s cell number across the bottom.
Svirsky and his friends postered every dorm and doorbox in Harvard Yard. “It was a great idea,” says Svirsky, tooting his own proverbial horn. “It was harmless and will probably last for months.”
But some callers didn’t get the gag. Corayer describes one caller who, he says, “couldn’t believe” the joke. “She was really hungry, I guess,” Corayer says.
Corayer says that the number of calls has dwindled, but hungry callers keep dialing. “They come in waves,” says Corayer. The embattled Pudding exec receives the most calls in the late night and early morning hours. Living in fear of the ravenous, Corayer no longer picks up for unknown callers. “I had to turn off my phone to get some sleep,” Corayer says. And he won’t rest easy until the posters come down—or Felipe’s starts coming door to door.
