Rain Ruins Pep Rally Plans

Fun czar Drake: 'This is real; we are cancelling'

Tonight’s campus-wide Harvard-Yale pep rally in the Yard has officially been cancelled, according to Campus Life Fellow John T. Drake ’06.

“It’s real. We are cancelling the pep rally,” Drake said. “It looks like it’s going to rain through the duration of the event tonight, and it’s an outdoor event so it doesn’t make sense to ask students to stand out in the rain with electrical equipment.”

But Drake said that the House stein clubs and the super brain-break in Annenberg should go on as planned.

“We’ll hopefully distribute the stuff we were going to hand out at the tailgate at these events,” Drake said.

As of now, the tailgate is still on for Saturday, but Drake said that administrators will be holding meetings later this afternoon, and that students can expect more information on the tailgate this evening.

Last year’s pep rally in the Yard—the first one in recent memory—was highly successful, attracting roughly 2,500 students.
