Leverett Student's Condition Upgraded

By Stephanie S. Garlow, Crimson Staff Writer

A hospital spokeswoman said this afternoon that Steven R. Snyder '04-'08, who survived a fall from a ninth-floor window in Leverett House Tower F Thursday morning, is no longer in "critical condition."

Snyder, who is being treated at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, is now in "serious condition," hospital spokeswoman Cindy Whitcome said. That marks an improvement over his state on Thursday, Whitcome added.

According to hospital policies, Beth Israel categorizes patients as "good," "fair," "serious," and—most gravely—"critical." The hospital does not use the word "stable" in patient descriptions provided to journalists.

Snyder fell at roughly 10:30 am Thursday from the northwest side of Leverett House that faces DeWolfe Street. He landed outside the fence that surrounds the Towers’ courtyard.
