This Paul McCartney fan completed his mission in Salt Lake City, the seat of Mormonism, where it’s hard to see the need for more converts. “A lot of people think it’s funny I went there,” says Strike.

Darren Baker

Darren was the first blockmate to leave for mission, taking off just weeks after moving out of the Yard. He worked in Seoul, South Korea, teaching English and taking a break from his college persona as an electrical engineering concentrator.

David Porter

Porter traveled throughout Argentina, where he worked with underprivileged kids. Now that he’s back at Harvard, his main goal is to get Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) to add Argentine grass-fed steak to the menu.

Luke Langford

Luke worked in St. Petersburg, where he had to deal with the effects of Russia’s communist history on its people. Because of their experiences, after the Soviet Union fell, a lot of people wouldn’t listen to the missionaries because “they thought you were just trying to brainwash them,” Langford said.

Matt Vandenberg

Matt worked in Santiago, Chile, where he spent time doing administrative work to help other missionaries get settled. He also spent time missing his textbooks.

Spencer Paulson

Paulson spent the last two years in Switzerland learning French and teaching English. He remains the only roommate who has not succumbed to thefacebook.com.
