Harvard senior forward Hana Peljto and junior center Reka Cserny were named First Team All-Ivy selections yesterday.
But for the second time in just a few weeks, the Harvard women’s basketball team was denied a chance at a three-peat.
After a series of tough conference losses eliminated the Crimson from contention for its third straight Ancient Eight title, co-captain Hana Peljto was denied her third Ivy League Player of the Year award in as many years, with the award instead going to Penn senior Jewel Clark.
Clark, who like Peljto was also unanimously selected to the Ancient Eight’s First Team, averaged 19.9 points per game, good for second in the league and 21st nationally. In addition, she finished in the league’s top 10 for rebounds, steals, blocks and field goal percentage.
Peljto, on the other hand, just missed averaging a double-double as she led the league in both points, with 23.7—also good for second in the country—and rebounds with 9.7.
Peljto, the sixth player in league history to be placed on the league’s top squad all four years, is joined by junior center Reka Cserny, who is now just the 10th three-time selection in Ivy history.
Cserny finished third in the league in scoring with 18.1 points per game, first in steals with 2.38 per game and eighth in rebounds, averaging 6.6 an outing.
Brown forward Nyema Mitchell and Columbia center Sue Altman, both seniors, rounded out the list.
