8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports

Pring-Wilson Guilty of Manslaughter

Former Harvard graduate student sentenced to eight years, parole after six

By Hana R. Alberts, Crimson Staff Writer

A jury convicted former Harvard graduate student Alexander Pring-Wilson of voluntary manslaughter this morning.

After hearing impact statements from the victim’s relatives and character statements from Pring-Wilson’s parents, Judge Regina Quinlan sentenced 26-year-old Pring-Wilson to eight years in prison, with the option for parole after six.

District Attorney Martha Coakley said in a press conference this afternoon that “some justice was obtained” but the family of victim Michael D. Colono was disappointed in the verdict and the sentencing.

Pring-Wilson fatally stabbed Colono in the early morning hours of April 12, 2003 following a verbal altercation outside of a Cambridge pizza parlor.
