Farkes Ivy Rookie of the Year

Headlined by freshman second baseman Zak Farkes’ rookie of the year award, the Harvard baseball team walked away with nine All-Ivy honors—more than twice as many as last year’s squad.

Farkes started all 40 of the Crimson’s games, Farkes hit .322, leading the team in runs, walks, home runs and total bases, while tying for the team lead in triples.

“I actually was very surprised,” Farkes said. “I think that there are three or four kids on our team that were equally deserving. But it’s a huge honor and I am very excited about it.”

Junior pitcher/first baseman Trey Hendricks, captain and reliever Barry Wahlberg and senior catcher Brian Lentz each were named to the first team All-Ivy.

Senior starting pitcher Kenon Ronz, sophomore Schuyler Mann—as designated hitter—and freshman outfielder Lance Salsgiver came away with second-team All-Ivy honors. Freshman Josh Klimkiewicz and Farkes were named All-Ivy honorable mentions.
