Field Hockey's Ahn Named First Team All-American

By Evan R. Johnson and Alex M. Sherman, Crimson Staff Writerss

Harvard field hockey tri-captain Jenn Ahn was named a first-team All-American yesterday. She becomes the only Crimson player ever to be selected to the first-team.

Ahn was a standout back and a defensive force for this year’s Crimson (12-5, 5-2 Ivy). She finished the year with 13 points and 11 assists. Ahn garnered third-team All-American honors last season and has received first-team All-Ivy League recognition for the past three seasons.

Ahn’s 26 career assists tie her with Ceci Clark ’02 for first overall in Harvard history.

Junior Shelley Maasdorp was also selected as an All-American, named to the third-team.

Maasdorp ended the year with seven goals and five assists, providing a potent offensive spark throughout the season. Maasdorp was named a first-team All-Ivy selection in both 2002 and 2003.

The field hockey team was not selected to this year’s NCAA Tournament despite a breakout season in which Harvard’s ranking climbed all the way to No. 15 in the nation in late October.
