To the editors:
I am writing in response to the Op-ed written by Peter Charles Mulcahy ’07 entitled “Open Wide, Adams House” (Oct. 9).
In his piece, he write how he is upset with the fact that upper-class dining options are becoming more and more limited to first-year students. “I’m sophisticated,” he writes in an attempt to validate his trip to Winthrop. “I’m a little more mature than the average first year. I do my own laundry. I’m classy. I want culture. I want upper-class girls.”
I would just like to write that, while it is true that the more sophisticated first-year may venture beyond Annenberg for a meal, Peter does not fit into this category. He is neither all that mature nor classy. His whites come out slightly creme-colored and his colors fade. He certainly needs culture but he will never get upper-class girls.
How do I know this? Because I’m his Proctor. Indeed, it is encouraging that the mature first years are getting a sense of the boarder Harvard community by dining in the Houses. But Peter? Come on...I’ll see him Annenberg.
