An unidentified person murdered a male on Mass. Ave. between MIT and Central Square early Friday morning.
According the Boston Globe the victim was Iran Gray, a 19-year-old male resident of Mattapan who was found wounded outside the Rhythm & Spice Grill at 315 Mass. Ave.
Frank D. Pasquarello, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) spokesperson, refused to comment on Friday’s incident.
However, according to the CPD police log, officers responded to the scene at 1:48 a.m. Friday morning after receiving reports of a fight.
There were reports of up to five gunshots at the scene.
Upon arriving, the Globe reported CPD officers found Gray, shot in the chest, lying on the sidewalk in front of the Caribbean restaurant.
Paramedics transported Gray to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died shortly after arriving.
The assailant escaped from the scene before police arrived, according to the Globe.
Police reports classify the investigation as “ongoing.”
