Menick Named Assistant Line Coach at Fordham

Chris Menick ’00, Harvard’s all-time leading rusher, isn’t through with football just yet.

Menick was named the assistant offensive line coach at Fordham University yesterday. It is Menick’s first career coaching position.

“If Chris applies the same work ethic to coaching as he did competing, he will become an outstanding college football coach,” Harvard coach Tim Murphy said.

Menick ran for 3,330 yards in his Crimson career, earning first-team all-Ivy honors in 1997 and 1999. He was instrumental in Harvard’s 1997 Ivy League championship, rushing for a school-record 1,267 yards—good for 10th in the nation that year.

Menick had seven 100-yard games—including a 261-yard effort against Holy Cross—and scored 13 touchdowns. The Crimson finished 9-1 that year, dominating the Ivy League en route to a undefeated conference record.

Menick’s hiring is part of a slew of coaching changes made by the Fordham football program. Rams Head coach Dave Clawson hired or promoted six assistant coaches yesterday.

Fordham finished 7-4 last year, placing third in the Patriot League. The Rams have never won a Patriot League title.
