By Garrett M. Graff, Crimson Staff Writer

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) has issued a community warning in the wake of a mid-day indecent assault and battery Tuesday near Vanserg Hall.

Around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, a University employee encountered a man on the walkway behind Vanserg at 29 Francis Ave. who assaulted her.

Police described the suspect as a black male, between 16 and 20 years of age, approximately five feet two inches tall, and wearing a white shirt, black backpack and light gray sneakers with Chinese characters on the heel.

He fled on foot toward the Semetic Museum on Divinity Ave.

Anyone with information about the assault should call HUPD’s Criminal Investigation Unit at (617) 495-1796
