Atticus Caf: This place has everything a Yalie could be hungry forbreads and baked goods, soups and sandwiches...and books. Thats rightits one half American restaurant, one-half bookstore. $6-$10. Daily 8am-12am. 1082 Chapel St.

Rainbow Caf: Good, all-natural American food. You do the seating, the ordering and the clearing. $9-$12. M-Th 11am-8pm; F-Sat 11am-9pm; Sun 11am-7pm. 1022 Chapel St, Downstairs.

Ivy Noodle: The new place on campus to get some good, cheap Chinese food. Sit-down or take-out. $5-$6. M-Sat 11am-2am; Sun 12pm-11pm. 316 Elm St.

Yankee Doodle Coffee Shop: The Doodle is a campus favorite. Yalies sit behind the counter at this small, diner-like joint for good and cheap fried food. Says one student, everything on the menu comes with a healthy dollop of butter. Locals recommend the Doodleburgers and fried doughnuts. $1-$5. M-F 5am-11:30pm; Sat-Sun 5am-3pm. 258 Elm St.

Thai Taste: Craving Spice? Yalies say the Thai food here is just as good. $7-$14. M-Th 11:30am-3pm, 5pm-10pm; F-Sat 11:30am-10:30pm; Sun 4:30pm-10pm. 1151 Chapel St, Duncan Hotel.

Yorkside Pizza: Its right next to Toads (a nightclub; see below for details), so you dont have to hop too far to grab a slice after a night of dancing. $4-$8. T-Th 5pm-10:30pm; Fri-Sat 5pm-midnight; Sun 5pm-10pm. 288 York St.

Naples Pizza: A chill spot to eat pizza and drink beer in large, unruly groups. $5-$7. Daily 7am-1am. 80 Wall St.

Viva Zapata: Yummy Mexican food and sangria. $7-$12. Sun-Th 4pm-11pm; F 11:30am-1am; Sat 4pm-2am. 161 Park St.

Not-cheap food:

Samurai Japanese Restaurant: Come here to eat good sushi and go sake-bombing. $15-$25. Lunch: M-Sat 11:30am-2:30pm; Dinner: M-Th 4:30-10pm; F-Sat 4:30-11pm; Sun 4:30-10pm. 230 College St.

Caff Adulis: Students dig its Ethiopian food, usually with their hands. The only necessary utensils are cups for the drinky-drinks. $13-$30. Lunch: M-F 12pm-3pm; Dinner: Daily 5pm-11pm. 228 College St.

Nightlife:

Toads Place: Toads is the most hoppin club on campus. Its where Yalies go on Wednesday and Saturday nights for some dirty dancing. It includes multiple bars, a game room, a dance floor and, most notoriously, a booty cam that scans the upper dance platform and projects the dancers on two screens at opposite ends of the floor. This Friday and Saturday, Toads will be hosting Harvard-Yale dance parties, but theyre strict on the 21+ policyif you want to get your grind on, you need 2 valid IDs to get in the door. Risk: Undergrads venture onto this clubs 3-level dance floor on Thursdays Yale-Only Nights. But this weekend should be a little more inclusive. The place is strictly 21+dont risk it with a bad ID. $6-$8. 9pm-2am. 230 Crown St.

BAR: A popular hangout for upperclassmen and grad students on any weekend night, BAR features a Bru Room for beer, brick-oven pizza, a Front Room for socializing over drinks, a Back Room for dancing, a Lounge for relaxing, a Grain Loft for dining and private parties and a Back Porch for nicer days. 21+. $8 cover. $6-$12 for food. Sun-Th 4pm-1am, F-Sat 4pm2am. 254 Crown St.

Late nights:

Those who are still ready to go after a night of clubbing head to late-nights (fraternities), hitting Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) on Thursday, Beta Theta Pi (Beta) on Friday, and Zeta Psi (Zeta) on Wednesdays and Saturdays. These places are alive until everyone falls asleep, usually around 3 or 4am. Latenights are known for their chill atmospheres, or as one student characterizes them: boys drinking beer.
