War, or Brain Break?

To the editors:

The United States has been bombing Afghanistan for several days in what could be considered a legitimate war. However, your newspaper felt that Eliot House cancelling “Brain Break” was more newsworthy and deserved to be put on the front page of the paper (News, “Eliot Cancels Brain Break,” Oct. 10).

Honestly, who cares about “Brain Break” being canceled? I think that our country, especially in these times, going to war deserves a spot on the front page. Maybe The Crimson is off in its own little sheltered world—as is most of the rest of the student body at this school—and feels that the students of Eliot House losing their bagel privileges for a night is more important than our fellow Americans risking their lives in the Middle East in order to preserve our freedom. If it weren’t for those people, I don’t think we would have the privilege to eat our precious bagels anyhow. So in the future, I suggest The Crimson put a higher priority on actual news instead of the loss of snack time.
