Heaney Will Read at Commencement

Nobel laureate Seamus Heaney, will be among this year's commencement speakers, Harvard's press office announced Wednesday.

According to University spokesperson Joe Wrinn, Heaney will recite a previously unpublished poem.

"He's writing something especially for the first commencement of the millenium," Wrinn said.

This will be the second time this year Heaney will read his work before members of the Harvard community.

Earlier this month, he presented selections of his poetry before students, faculty and administrators in Lowell Lecture Hall.

He also read excerpts from his new best-selling translation of the epic tale Beowulf.

Heaney is considered by many to be the world's greatest living poet.

Among his best known works are "Alphabet Soup," "Room to Rhyme" and "Out of the Bag."
