The question "Is love colorblind?" served as the basis for a discussion among eight panelists and nearly 40 audience members last night in Emerson Hall.
The event was organized by members of the Asian American Association and co-sponsored by many other campus cultural groups.
The first panelist, who said he was biracial but identified as an African American, said he would not date someone who was not black.
The next speaker, who said he was of mixed Latino descent, said he "never saw race."
Another panelist said she would not date interracially under the premise that dating might lead to marriage and a family.
"I'm taking my kids into consideration," she said. "I want them to be secure with their identity."
Audience members offered equally diverse opinions.
Seng Yang '01, one of the event's organizers, said the panel "served to promote dialogue between the differing views of interracial dating."
