Jousting. Sky-high slides and long lines for Sno-Cones. Free fried dough. Violent Femmes and the Velcro challenge. Saturday afternoon in the MAC Quad offered Harvard students a chance to experience all of these activities and events along with 3,000 other college kids with spring fever. For a minute, we almost thought we were at Brown.
First-years flocked from the Yard to enjoy the live music. River residents found themselves in long lines waiting to sample the barbecued Harvard Dining Services fare. Quadlings headed to fun on buses festively labeled "Springfest Shuttle."
And while there was no alcohol provided for older undergraduates as there was at last year's less-popular event, few complained.
Instead, students watched the Juggling Club in action, tasted the baklava offered by the Hellenic Society, and visited the booths of the Radcliffe Choral Society and the Harvard Entrepreneurs Club.
Maybe next year, undergraduates can look forward to all this and so much more--a chance to see Dave Matthews in concert, perhaps?
