July 15

A Chauncy St. resident reported seeing a man in his 20s, about 5'4", running through Cambridge Common and Harvard Square with a silver handgun, which he took out of a backpack. The man reportedly fired one round into the air. A .45 caliber shell casing was recovered at the scene.

July 17

A Chelsea man with an outstanding warrant was arrested by the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) at the Peabody Museum. While being booked at the Cambridge Police Station, the man tried to escape but was again apprehended on Magazine St.

An Albany St. resident reported to Cambridge Police Department (CPD) that another resident assaulted him with a bottle and took money from his sock while he was resting on the lawn of City Hall. According to the victim, the suspect has a history of abusing him.

July 20

A Lexington woman reported to CPD that after she severed a relationship with a Cambridge resident, the man became increasingly agitated and began shocking himself with a stun gun. The woman reported that the man had followed her to her sister's house and left a threatening note on her car. She said he also called her sister and told the woman, "This is just the beginning."

July 21

A Belmont resident reported that while crossing through the intersection of Concord and Walden Streets, she was almost struck by a car. She said the driver exited his vehicle and began arguing with her and then struck her on the shoulder.

July 22

At 12:10 a.m., a Cambridge resident reported that two unknown males entered his home through the rear door. He was forced at gunpoint into his basement, where a friend from Roxbury was staying at the time. The suspects demanded money from the victims and threatened to shoot them. The suspects then left with some jewelry. Jonathan H. Esensten contributed to the reporting of this story.
