Theft during Presidents Dance at Annenberg

By Kirsten G. Studlien, Contributing Writer

A four-foot tall plaster pedestal and a wrought-iron flower pot were stolen from Annenberg Hall during the President's Dance on Saturday night, sources said.

The pot was one of two identical pieces in Annenberg. The pot and the pedestal on which it stood were likely removed from Annenberg as the dance was nearing its conclusion at midnight, according to Joe Kelley, the customer service manager at Annenberg.

"There was a very large group of students who were gathering to leave, and when the hall had cleared we later noticed it was gone," Kelley said.

Kelley said the whereabouts of the items are unknown at present, and there is no information about who may have taken them.

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) is currently investigating the theft, according to Kelley.

HUPD spokesperson Peggy A. McNamara was unavailable for comment yesterday.
