Adams House Issues Advisory

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Adams House officials issued an advisory to the House community yesterday afternoon concerning last Thursday's assault of two undergraduates near the House.

In the e-mail advisory, House Master Robert J. Kiely '60 and Senior Tutor David B. Fithian informed students of the incident, in which two Adams students were assaulted at the corner of Bow and Plympton Streets at 2:50 a.m. last Thursday. The students had just exited Tommy's House of Pizza.

"Both students have recovered from minor injuries and have resumed a regular schedule of classes and activities," Kiely and Fithian wrote.

The vicinity where the assault occurred is not necessarily more dangerous than other areas, they added.

"According to police reports, the circumstances of this incident were unusual," they wrote. "From the evidence we have been given, there is no reason to believe that the Bow Street area is less safe than other side streets in Harvard Square."

The message concluded with safety advice, urging students to take "well-lighted, well-traveled routes" when walking at night, and to avoid walking alone.
