Green Lauded for Academics, Athletics

Harvard senior free safety Ben Green, who became a starter on the football team this year, has been honored with both academic and athletic accolades.

Green was named to the first team of the College Sports Information Directors of America's Academic All-America team.

The anthropology concentrator carries a 3.34 grade point average. He is a three-year recipient of the Harvard

College Scholarship and was awarded the Robert Westervelt Memorial Scholarship for 1998-99.

In addition, Green was an honorable mention choice for the All-Ivy team.

This season, he made 74 tackles, good for fourth-most on the team and tops among defenders in the secondary. Green also had two interceptions, six pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.

He made a career-high 11 tackles against Colgate in the third game of the season.
