The staff is right to call for tolerance and protective legislation for gays and lesbians. But to state that the majority of Americans, who are conflicted about their personal views on homosexuality and uncomfortable with queer culture, are complicit in active persecution is inappropriate. Tolerance should exist for their views too.
We need not embrace those with whom we disagree, but neither should we condemn them. Tolerance should not be selectively applied to the political values which one happens to support personally.
