Students Choose 'Hunting'

Harvard students have chosen the film about Harvard as their favorite movies of the year. In a poll conducted by Harvard-Radcliffe TV (HRTV), students named Good Will Hunting best picture of the year.

The poll, which was conducted through forms passed out in dining halls, included 300 students in six Houses, ranging from Pforzheimer to Eliot.

The Cambridge-based film was also chosen as best screenplay. Minnie Driver and Robin Williams were named best supporting male and female actors, respectively, for their roles in the film.

The poll was conducted in conjunction with the upcoming Ivy Film Festival. The festival will consist of public screenings of films produced by undergraduates across the nation.

The festival will be held April 11 and 12 (and includes a screening at Harvard), but the poll was released now in anticipation of next Monday's Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

According to HART President Murad S. Hussein '99, who is a Crimson executive, nominees for each of the seven categories featured in the survey were chosen by the HRTV executive board. The nominees differed slightly from those chosen by the Academy.

Other winners in the poll included Helen Hunt as best lead female actor and Jack Nicholson as best lead male actor in As Good As It Gets; James Cameron as best actor for Titanic, and Matt Damon as most promising performer.
