To the editors:

I wish to accept the criticism of Alvin Tillery, Jr. "On Race, U. Hall Should Practice What It Preaches" (Letters, March 13) and agree that there should have been direct contact between my office and the Adams House students who were apparently harassed by a Cambridge Police officer. I understand that Adams House has supported the students and will do so myself. I know, too, That the Harvard Police Department is seeking information about the incident. I report as well that the Cambridge Police commissioner has expressed an interest in pursuing this case. DEAN OF STUDENTS ARCHIE C. EPPS III   March 13, 1998
